E3 Recap Day 3 – Ubisoft

If I was giving awards for the biggest hype machine for E3, it would go to Ubisoft’s conference hands down. They put on an amazing show with live music, fantastic announcements, and even some celebrity appearances to top things off. This is by the far the show I would have loved to have seen live.  Ubisoft knew what they were doing, and they executed it correctly. They have a game for just about anyone and know how to engage their community. I foresee great things in the world of gaming as long as the hype Ubisoft created meets the level of gameplay they showcased.

The best introduction to a new game and use of live music? Just Dance 2019.

Beyond Good and Evil 2

One of the biggest examples of their community engagement came with the announcement that Beyond Good and Evil 2 is teaming up with Hitrecord. That’s right, Joseph Gordon-Levitt himself made the announcement.

I love this inclusion of the community adding the game because It allows players to feel connected on a deeper level as well as promoting collaboration with like-minded gamers. I hope it is successful and allows for future projects to do the same. If you’re interested in contributing check out the Hitrecord site here. I can’t wait to see what the community adds to this vast world and look forward to playing through it solo or co-op with a friend.

Division 2

We learned quite a lot about Ubisoft’s sequel. The Division 2 will be taking place in Washington D.C. several months after the release of the virus that ravaged NYC in the first game. Players will enter into a city on the brink of collapse. Citizens are hiding in fear from different factions trying to take control of the streets. Because of this, you are called to restore order and bring back peace to the city. This is just another step to bringing the world back from the brink of destruction.

There will be raids
Players will finally be able to embark on 8 player raids that will truly test their skills. Ubisoft mentioned in a blog post “These challenging missions will test the skill, communication, and teamwork of even the most expert Agents.” You’ll be able to try out these new challenges once you hit level 30.

Pre-launch Beta
There will be a beta available for players to join in and test out the game. The publisher hasn’t clarified when it will take place but registration is now open. Players can sign up for a chance to participate through Division website, although registering doesn’t guarantee entry. Additional details about the beta are expected to arrive at a later date.

DLC will be free
Ubisoft announced that there will be 3 full DLC’s for the first year of the game that will include new story, areas, and activities which will all be free.

Skull and Bones

Do you like pirates? Of course, you do. Well, we have a game for you. Skull and Bones is all about naval battles, both in a single-player and in five-on-five PvP action. Players choose from a variety of ships, select the right cannons, and then set about the grisly work of subduing other vessels. Encounters start from afar and end with hand-to-hand combat aboard the decks.

Set in the golden age of pirates, players must deal with many challenges throughout their travels. Fortunes affect various aspects of the game like wind, sea conditions and cataclysms. So not only are you up against the empire, other players but as well ass the world itself. You must customize your ship to the conditions of the world for the best results. While there is co-op within the game, there are no friends as is the proper pirate way. Be careful pirates, and protect your booty.

Assassins Creed: Odyssey

Set in the Greco-Roman era, players will choose between two heroes this time in Ubisoft’s next Assassin’s Creed. You get to chose between Alexios or Kassandra and they are descended from the great Spartan hero, Leonidas. At the start of the game, you are recovering from an unknown tragedy and returning as a mercenary to find out what happened to your family. Ubisoft really hit home with the role-playing elements by finally including dialogue options that will allow you to turly play the game how you want. Along with a more complex combat system and exciting naval battles, AC: Odyssey sets out to be the most exciting game in the series yet.

Other game announcments

Trials Rising: A fun, frustrating and fantastic game that has a great gaming community and been going since 1999.

Transference: A new concept to VR gaming that adds acting to the digital experience as explained by Elijah Wood.

For Honor: Marching Fire
